The ocean is a big part of what makes this area so special.
A Tigh-Na-Mara vacation allows the visitor a multitude of
recreational choices and activities that take place beside,
on, in, or under the cool clear waters of the Georgia Strait.
As you leave the water's edge, you can find every ecosystem
from tidal flats to alpine meadows in such a concentrated
area that it was recently recognized by UNESCO, who designated
it as the Mt. Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve. The Reserve includes
the three prominent local mountain peaks of Arrowsmith, Cokely
and Moriarty as well as all the watersheds that flow from
them into the Strait of Georgia. It is a large area with a
variety of trails, rivers, streams and waterfalls to explore.
In fact, one of your toughest choices will be whether you
want to enjoy the many marine activities, experience the wide
range of outdoor adventures, golf at one of six area courses,
explore the many area parks, have fun with the kids or discover
the depth of arts and culture that is available all year long
in Tigh-Na-Mara's backyard.

When you get right down to it, a beach is just a strip of
sand, but as you colour it with your own thoughts and dreams,
it takes on a deeply personal nature.
At Tigh-Na-Mara those thoughts and dreams can be envisioned
at any one of the four area beaches that total about 19 kilometers
(over 11 miles) in length and which can stretch out almost
1 kilometer at low tide.
After exploring the shore, cast off into the rich blue waters
of Georgia Strait. Whether your plans take you above or below
the surface, you will find Tigh-Na-Mara an ideal launching
point for adventure.
